One thing the 2013 Dodgers have in common with the 1988 crew is a swift, productive, and fiery band of utility guys that do more than pinch hit or spell a regular on a day off. Unsung heroes, to be sure, Nick Punto, Jerry Hairston Jr., Skip Schumaker, and Tim Federowicz have answered the bell all season long. In fact, most of these guys have played much more than anyone would care to admit - and the results have been solid. The Dodgers simply don't miss a beat when these guys are in the lineup and it's not uncommon to see one or more of these Stuntmen spark a rally or make a run-saving defensive play.
Though the spotlight will continue to shine on Hanley Ramirez, Yasiel Puig, and Clayton Kershaw, the 2013 version of the Stuntmen deserve their moment. And maybe - just maybe - there will be a Mickey Hatcher moment or two this October.
