The Pitch
All the glory and classic moments of the Los Angeles Dodgers five World Series championships are digitally preserved in this two-disc DVD collection. Narrated by Vin Scully (with Bob Costas joining him for the '88 Series), Dodgers fans are treated to actual game footage in raw form. More like an extended highlight reel, all of the key hits, runs, plays, and pitches are shown from each game of the five championships. Each Series runs approximately 35 minutes in length, with the '88 Series reaching a full hour.
Highlights
- Listening to Vin Scully early in his career
- Seeing greats like Koufax, Wills, Podres, and Drysdale in action
- The sound bites from Tommy Lasorda during the '81 Series
- Re-living the Orel Hershiser drama
- The Yankees scoring only four runs the entire series in 1963
- The seven-game sereis against the Twins in 1965 is terribly underrated by baseball historians. It was truly a remarkable Series.
Best Quote
"He made Tommy Lasorda sit quiet - and that's quite a trick."

Overall Rating: Home Run!
This is a must-have anthology for all Dodgers fans. Though it is a bare bones DVD, the raw footage from the '59, '63, and '65 Series is especially unique, though very poor in quality. Even the '81 Series looks tainted and broken in places. The highlights of the 1988 Series are the very ones from the NBC video that was out years ago, but it feels fresh in this collection. There are no extra features and the audio/video quality are barely passable. Still, this collections captures what Dodgers fans are seeking. One complaint: Why not include the '55 World Series?
